Subcontracted to LeChase Construction Corp. of Rochester, N.Y., BDC constructed 71 drilled piers, 67 permanent horizontal anchors, and a 35 foot high by 200 foot long earth retaining structure. The project site was positioned abutting an existing multi-story structure and notched into the adjacent unstable slope. Difficult site assess conditions were compounded by an unusual wet Spring which required substantial overtime and weekend efforts to meet the demanding project schedule. Drilled piers ranged up to 72 inch diameter by 50 foot deep, and many permanent anchors were greater than 75 feet long with lock-off capacities exceeding 250 kips. The earth retention structure, as designed BDC, included 26 soldier piles and a double row of tieback anchors with walers
